About
Training for Public Health
Bioterrorism / Disaster Preparedness Program:

In
responding to the WTC disaster we didn’t "rise
to the occasion," but rather, we "sank to our
level of training." These words, spoken by a first
responder following the 9-11 WTC disaster, eloquently relay
the importance of training those who will be called upon
to respond to a BT/emergency event.

Training
is the foundation upon which rapid and effective emergency
response rests. Training not only increases the capacity
of the responders to act quickly and effectively, it builds
their confidence in their ability to do an incredibly difficult
job. I passionately believe that those who will be called
upon to respond to a BT/emergency event deserve the best
possible training I
am blessed to live and work in Region III, comprised of
the 13 northern most counties in California. This group
of BT coordinators quickly realized the importance of both
collaboration and training. They work together to actively
support regional training opportunities, and contribute
their time and energy to help assure that we are able to
provide the best possible BT/ Emergency Response trainings
for
our region. |
