During An Evacuation


The Tehama County Evacuation Guidelines have been created with the assistance of the California Office of Emergency Services (OES)
  • Know primary travel routes
    Know the primary travel routes to get to the safety zones.

  • Traffic will be directed by law enforcement
    Be prepared to be directed by law enforcement or traffic control personnel.
  • You must follow their directions.
  • Drive the routes in advance
    So that you will be prepared for the confusion of an actual emergency.
  • Prepare a checklist & have a map in your car
    Have checklist and map ready with all the actions you will take prior to and during evacuation.
  • Do You Know What to Do if you're Trapped by Fire?
    If you become trapped by fire while evacuating in your car, park in an area clear of vegetation,
    close all vehicle windows and vents, cover yourself with a blanket or jacket and lie on the floor.
  • If you are trapped by fire while evacuating on foot, select an area clear of vegetation or
    lie face down in a ditch.
