What is an Earthquake?

An earthquake is a sudden movement of the earth, caused by the abrupt release of strain that has accumulated over a long time. If the earthquake occurs in a populated area, it may cause many deaths and injuries and extensive property damage.

The real key to surviving an earthquake and reducing the risk of injury lies in planning, preparing, and practicing what you and your family will do if it happens.
