As
a child care provider the safety
of many children is in your
hands in the event of a disaster
or emergency. You may need
to deal with a number of emergency
situations while caring for
the children in your center.
A Special Needs Disaster Registry
is available for county residents
who would need special assistance
during a disaster. A section
of the registry is dedicated
to childcare providers who
may need help transporting
or caring for children’s
needs in an emergency. The
registry contains the provider’s
information and will be used
by local emergency response
personnel to locate centers
during a disaster. Being on
the registry does not necessarily
guarantee that you will get
help first during the many
demands of a disaster; however,
disaster workers will be aware
that you need special assistance
and it will be a priority to
help you.
Being prepared saves lives.
It is critical that you have
a working emergency plan for
your child care center. For

Needs Disaster Registry or

plan for your child care center
